Well helllllo whoever cares to read this!
I was planning on journaling about my trip in Italy, as well as updating you loved ones on what life is like over here, so why not do both at the same time?? So.. here goes. I'll make my first post what I wrote in my journal on the way from O'Hare to Madrid...
March 10th, 8:35pm (US)\ March 11th, 3:45am (Italy)
"I've just had quite a struggle with my seat's light. After pulling, pushing, and twisting my light for a solid minute, the man in the seat behind me the button was on my armrest...
Anyway, I'm on the big plane on the way to Madrid! I've had a surprising good plane-food dinner of beed, rice, sugar snap peas, bread, cheese, coke, some strange shrimp salad thing, cafe!, and cake. I've also had some nice naps from both sleep deprivation and drug inducement (dramemine is beautiful). I've gotten to know my seat buddy- she's a 4th grade teacher in Austin, TX and is on spring break, going to visit her friend who is teaching in Palma di Maiorca. She gets very motion sick, and I've quite generously drugged her, and she's currently knocked out.
Before I fell asleep after leaving Chicago, there was a temporary part in the clouds and I was able to see the skyline on the the horizon and Lake Michigan beneath me; it was very beautiful. After sleeping for awhile, I woke up just in time to see another skyline before there was nothing but ocean (NY??). This was at sunset and it was gorgeous. I'm very glad I woke up for it- it looks like God's taking care of me on this trip already...that makes me excited to see what He has in store for me for the rest of it!!
So now I'm halfway through the 8 hour plane ride, my throat hurts pretty bad and I'm trying not to spread whatever it is I have. I'm nervous about finding Elisabetta in Naples, and after the emotional goodbye, I already miss home. But I'm getting more excited the closer we get!"
I will update what has happened since then later today, but right now it's lunch time!!
Arrivederci
